We each have that thing that starts us up, and causes emotions to go out of sync if we’re not paying attention, we’re not aware, or frankly we don’t care. It’s not fun, yet sometimes it’s that very thing we have to look at in order to Grow, to improve into our best selves.
I wasn’t the girl who had my future planned out seamlessly. I didn’t dream of a life outside the 9-5, though I found I yearned for something more. After moving to New York, I was offered a gift of seeking employment, a new opportunity to pursue His direction. Inadvertently, it was here that I developed a passion for the study of human behavior.
After completing my Master’s in Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis, I found that many have an unconditioned association with the behavior term. We subconsciously associate it with what we’re not doing right. We often carry this onto how we interact with other scenarios, responding to our children based on what we see, not what we know; we argue with our spouse based on their facial expression and lack of involvement in what we subconsciously assume they should know about us.
Don’t worry, you’re in good company. Join me here on The Behavior Project podcast where we talk behavior in my virtual living room. Pull up a seat, bring your favorite drink and stay awhile.
